Formed in 2002, Illinois Choose Life gathered over 25,000 signatures of Illinois residents who requested the state to issue the Choose Life plate. Proceeds from this specialty plate would benefit agencies that encourage and facilitate adoptions, including adoption agencies and crisis pregnancy centers.

- George Johnson, the "Pro-Life Check Guy," was the original creator of Life Checks, which he later sold to Custom Direct.
